Re-Shepir (also referred to as the Midnight Mother) is a known Unmade who appears in the depths of Urithiru. There, she is discovered first by Renarin, then by Adolin, and lastly by Shallan, who eventually interacts with her.
Re-Shepir appears as a large mass that reflects the light, like glistening tar. She is an undulating shape, a living darkness that seeps, though not swiftly.
There is an inevitability in the way she coats everything, flowing up the sides of walls, coating a ceiling. On the ground, shapes split from her main mass, becoming figures that step as if from surf. Creatures that have two feet and soon grow faces, with clothing that ripples into existence.
- Shallan recognizes that these creatures look like themselves; she and her companions, some of whom were originally members of Bridge Four (i.e., Teft, Lopen, and Drehy, amongst other members).
Re-Shepir, the Midnight Mother, giving birth to abominations with her essence so dark, so terrible, so consuming. She is here! She watches me die!
–Dated Shashabev, 1173, 8 seconds pre-death. Subject: a darkeyed dock-worker in his forties, father of three.
Re-Shephir, the Midnight Mother, is another Unmade who appears to have been destroyed at Aharietiam.
–From Hessi's Mythica, page 250
The Midnight Mother created monsters of shadow and oil, dark imitations of creatures she saw consumed. Their description matches no spren I can find in modern literature.
–From Hessi's Mythica, page 252
In The Way of Kings, she is called Re-Shepir. In Oathbringer, she is called Re-Shephir. There is no explanation, as yet, for this minor discrepancy.
