I walked from Abamabar to Urithiru.

–This quote from the Eighth Parable of The Way of Kings seems to contradict Varala and Sinbian, who both claim the city was inaccessible by foot. Perhaps there was a way constructed, or perhaps Nohadon was being metaphorical.

Point of view: Kaladin
Setting: The Shattered Plains

Kaladin wakes up to Syl's voice, pleading with him not to be hurt anymore. He's disoriented from the beating he took, so it takes him a moment to realize that he's hanging upside-down from the Bridge Four barrack. This is bad news, considering the fact that there is a highstorm coming.

Syl tells Kaladin what has happened since he's been unconscious. Sadeas blamed Lamaril for the battle's catastrophic failure, and executed Lamaril himself. Gaz has remained in his position.

Sadeas has proclaimed that the Stormfather will judge whether Kaladin is worthy to live or die in the highstorm. Kaladin tells his loyal bridgemen to come out after the storm to see him open his eyes and know that he survived. Kaladin is given his only remaining skymark for luck during the storm. The rest of the bridge crew head back into the Bridge Four barrack and the highstorm arrives.
